Mechanical behaviour of welded high strength steel rectangular hollow section joints

چکیده

The material reduction factor of rectangular hollow section (RHS) joints in a new version Eurocode 3 part 1–8 is validate for steel with the nominal yield strength up to 700 MPa. In this paper, finite element simulations gap K-joints are conducted investigate effects properties, size joint, brace chord width ratio and welds type on secondary bending stresses resistance. governing failure mode considered all FE models face followed by sidewall failure. axial stress was lower compressive made higher grades compared mild grades. maximum 0.12–0.32 strength. increasing increase grade reducing size. level varied between 38% 56% average normal stress. fillet-welded larger than butt-welded joints. line model used predict ultimate load good agreement obtained results.
